First Lady of Boxing Jackie Kallen has joined forces with Southfield-based Orchard Lake Pet Resort (OLPR) to increase public awareness on the dire need for pet owners to understand the importance of professional grooming, pet safety and the urgent need for pet adoption.

Kallen’s dynamic career includes management of numerous champion boxers and inclusion in The World Boxing Hall of Fame, The California Boxing Hall of Fame and The Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. She is the first and only female to penetrate the male-dominated sport as an influential and powerful voice. Hollywood was quick to acknowledge her accomplishments with the release of the autobiographical movie, Against the Ropes, starring actress Meg Ryan.

Kallen’s association with the owner of Orchard Lake Pet Resort (formerly Groomingtails) began over 20 years ago, when she utilized the grooming and boarding services for her own dogs. Over the years a friendship ensued and a business relationship was formed.

“Having worked with world champion fighters for more than three decades, it is now extremely satisfying for me to work with champions in the pet world," she said.
