East Middle School Students Earn Math Olympiad Plaque

The East Middle School Math Olympiad Team has won another plaque for having a team score in the top 10 percent of the math problem solving contest. 

The school’s math club meets weekly for an hour to explore topics or strategies to use and they practice for the contest. There are five monthly, online contests given from November to March, designed to stimulate enthusiasm and a love for math, learn important mathematical concepts and teach major strategies for problem solving.

The top 10 scoring East Middle School mathletes were:  Sai Abburi, seventh grade; Shrihari Bhaskaramurthi, eighth grade; Navjit Girgla, seventh grade; Ashwath Muruganand, eighth grade; Isha Nadgauda, seventh grade; Rohan Nuthakki, seventh grade; Joshen Patel, eighth grade; Sumanth Rudraraju, seventh grade; Parth Shah, seventh grade; and Ragav Subramanian, eighth grade.

The following students won individual awards:

Lenchner medal for perfect score - Parth Shah, eighth grade

Gold pin (top 2 percent) - Joshen Patel, eighth grade; Shrihari Bhaskaramurthi, eighth grade

Silver pin (top 10 percent) - Ashwath Murugananad, eighth grade; Sumanth Rudraraju, seventh grade; Sai Abburi, seventh grade; Navjit Girgla, seventh grade; Rohan Nuthakki, seventh grade; Isha Nadgauda seventh grade; Ragav Subramanian, eighth grade

Felt patch (top 50 percent) - Mahita Beeram, Aditi Bhandari, Riya Chhabra, Siva Chinthalapudi, Anupama Dantuluri, Gitika Deshmukh, Sai Vaishnavi Dhenuvakonda, Julia Forgaciu, Spurthi Gubbala, Shreya Mullapudi, Rohan Naik, Abigail Radomski, Abhilash Samantapudi, and Kunal Shah (all seventh graders)

The team had 25 out of 29 students in the top 50 percent, 10 students in the top 10 percent and three in the top 2 percent.
