Farmington Hills Man Named President of Toastmasters at Walsh College
The Toastmasters Club at Walsh College recently elected its officers for 2012-2013.
Newly elected officers for the Toastmasters at Walsh College Novi are: President, Gene Zalubas, of Farmington Hills; Vice President of Education, Cory Lee, of Novi; Vice President of Membership, Walt Hickok, of Highland; Vice President of Public Relations, Linda Hagan, of Novi; Secretary, Estelle Caine, of Farmington Hills; Treasurer, Mike Karol, of Novi; and Sergeant at Arms, Moonseok Lee, of Northville.
Individuals interested in improving or practicing public speaking and leadership skills are invited to attend a meeting at the Toastmasters Club of Walsh College. Meetings are held the first and third Friday each month from 8 to 9 a.m., at the Walsh College Novi Campus, 41500 Gardenbrook Road (off of Meadowbrook Road, just north of Grand River Avenue), in Novi.
“The Toastmasters Club at Walsh College provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills,” said Zalubas, the newly elected club president.
At each Toastmasters meeting, members and guests enjoy practicing or listening to prepared speeches, Table Topics™ (impromptu speeches), and speech evaluations, in addition to practicing leadership skills.
“Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” said Zalubas. “This is where guests and members volunteer to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.”
The next Toastmasters meeting will be held Friday, August 3, at 8 a.m. at the Walsh College Novi Campus.
