Farmington Schools PTAs, PTSAs Honored at State Convention
Several Farmington Schools PTAs and PTSAs were recognized by Michigan PTA at the State Convention in April.
Award recipients were selected as the best of the best from applications the Michigan PTA received from units and councils that met eligibility criteria.
Farmington PTA Council was awarded the Best Male Involvement Program Award for its collaboration with the Proud Dads Clubs and events such as the Districtwide picnic and writing challenge. This is the second year Michigan PTA offered this award and the second year a Farmington Public Schools PTA has received it.
Beechview Elementary PTA, Farmington High School PTSA, Highmeadow Common Campus Elementary PTA and Hillside Elementary PTA were awarded a Certificate of Achievement for increasing their membership over the prior year.
Farmington PTA Council was also given an award for the Greatest Number of Business Members. This is the fourth year that Farmington PTA Council has won this award, thanks to support from businesses in the community.
Highmeadow Common Campus Elementary PTA also won awards for having 100 percent PTA membership and 100 percent staff membership. They were the only school in the state to reach 100 percent membership.
Michigan PTA also awards Certificates of Merit to units in good standing who have participated in leadership development training, Certificates of Excellence is based on several criteria – including being an active advocate at all levels and taking advantage of PTA programs and training opportunities and one Certificate of Success award for a unit that supports student achievement through the National PTA standard for family-school partnerships.
Farmington High School PTSA unit won a Certificate of Merit, Certificate of Excellence and is the only PTA unit in Michigan to receive this year’s Certificate of Success. Farmington PTA Council won a Certificate of Merit and Certificate of Excellence.
