Help sustain the City’s natural resources at Rouge Rescue 2011 on Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. until noon at Heritage Park, located off Farmington Road between Ten and Eleven Mile Roads in Farmington Hills.

Every year since 1986, thousands of caring citizens have been part of the hands-on community effort to clean and restore the Rouge River watershed.  This year’s volunteers will help remove invasive species near the waterway and also help with native plantings in the park.

The first 50 participants to arrive and sign in outside the Heritage Park Visitor’s Center will receive a free Rouge Rescue t-shirt and all participants will enjoy a free picnic lunch.  Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and long sleeves, as well as sturdy work boots.

For more information or to pre-register, call the Division of Public Works at 248-871-2850 or e-mail tpieron@fhgov.com.  For a listing of other Rouge Rescue sites, call the Friends of the Rouge at 313-792-9900 or visit therouge.org
