Farmington Hills Police Officer Joe Mertes was recognized by the Woodcreek Subdivision Association Thursday, for his service and involvement in the arrest of suspicious person in the subdivision on Feb. 18, 2011.
Mertes located and confronted the person, and a check of the his background revealed several outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was subsequently taken into custody. Mertes said he was honored to be recognized for his efforts.
