We're expecting a cold and busy day in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
We're expecting a cold, mostly clear and busy day in Farmington and Farmington Hills:
1. The weather
After yesterday's rain and snow showers, the National Weather Service predicts a partly sunny day, with a high of 36, and low of 25 tonight, under cloudy skies.
2. Local shopping rewards
Remember that the more you spend in downtown Farmington this holiday season (through Dec. 19), the greater your chances of winning one of five prize packages as part of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Wish List Window promotion. A list of 35 participating businesses is on the DDA website.
It's the holiday party season, a time that can be difficult for people who battle weight issues. Farmington Hills resident Jeffrey Weiss, who has a weight loss success story, leads this free support group weekly on Tuesdays, 7 p.m., at Farmington Hills City Hall.
4. Look ahead: Cool Yule
The Farmington Musicale's presents an afternoon of holiday-themed music at St. John Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The women's chorus will perform, along with guitarist Nick Behnan. For more information, visit farmingtonmusicale.com
5. Look ahead: Farmington High blood drive
The American Red Cross needs blood and blood products especially during the holiday season. You can help on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Farmington High School. This year, 16-year-olds are allowed to donate if they meet health and weight requirements and have a Red Cross consent form completed by a legal guardian. For information, visit redcrossblood.org
