5 Things You Should Know Today - Jan. 12, 2012
It's Be Nice on the Internet Week.
A campaign launched by Real Simple magazine declares this a week to simply be nice to others on the Internet. It's an idea that fits with Patch's Terms of Service, so we're including it in today's list of things you should know:
1. The weather
It's likely to be a rainy Thursday. The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of rain today, mixed with snow later this afternoon. Temperatures will drop from a high around 42 to a low of 28 tonight, with rain turning to snow (as much as an inch) most likely after 10 p.m.
2. Be Nice on the Internet Week
There's another round of auditions tonight for this theater troupe's next production, The Wedding From Hell by Eileen Moushey. The company pays a small stipend to actors. Cold readings will be taken from the script. For more information call 248-476-2099.
4. Look ahead: Triskaidekaphobic Alert
Tomorrow is Friday the 13th, a difficult day for those who suffer from triskaidekaphobia, or fear of the number 13. Some believe the day, which can happen as many as three times a year, brings bad luck. If you have a specific fear of the day, it's called friggatriskaidekaphobia, because Friday is named after the Norse goddess Frigga, according to Wikipedia.com
5. Look ahead: Farmington city council meeting
Officials will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Farmington city hall. An agenda is not yet available. Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a federal holiday, so city offices will be closed, along with Farmington and Farmington Hills post offices and the 47th District Court. The Farmington Community Library Main Library and Farmington branch will remain open.
