5 Things You Should Know Today - July 24, 2012
Renovations begin this week at the Farmington Hills Police Dept., and the Farmington School Board meets tonight.
You'll have to excuse the dust at Farmington Hills Police Dept. for the next few weeks, as the building undergoes repair and renovation. Here's what else you should know today:
1. The weather
Today should be mostly sunny with a high around 87, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will dip down into the mid-60s tonight, under partly cloudy skies.
2. Upgrades at Farmington Hills Police Department
Renovations to the building on 11 Mile west of Orchard Lake are underway, and the Command Desk has been temporarily moved to the west side of the building. Look for "Police Business Parking" spaces on the west side of the building.
3. Farmington School Board meets
School board members will elect new officers tonight and take care of other business as they organize for the new fiscal year. There will be a 6 p.m. special meeting called by the Policy and Board Operations committee before the 7:30 p.m. regular meeting at the Schulman Administrative Center. A full agenda packet is attached to this article.
4. Look ahead: Family Fun in Riley Park Free Concert
The Earth Angels perform Wednesday, 7 p.m. Bring the whole family for this high energy, fast moving show that features fast-paced dance routines spiced with theatrics and lip-synching to the great oldies music of the ‘50s and ‘60s. The concert is held at the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion and Riley Park in downtown Farmington; rain location is at the Farmington Community Library Farmington branch.
5. Look ahead: Nardin Park Free Summer Concert Series
Nardin Park United Methodist Church hosts The Bel Airs, a family-friendly nine piece band with male and female lead vocalists and a three-horn piece horn section, will have you reliving the early days of American Bandstand. The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
