5 Things You Should Know Today - June 7, 2012
Check out our map of this week's garage sales, including one at the Costick Center.
Ready to hit the bargain tables? We've got a map to help you navigate this week's garage sales, including what will likely be the biggest sale of all.
Here's what else you should know:
1. The weather
The temperature is expected to climb near 80 today, with sunny skies and winds gusting to 18 miles per hour. The National Weather Service predicts a low tonight around 55.
2. Garage Sale map
You'll find everything from toys and clothes to furniture and even home-made duct tape crafts at garage and yard sales this weekend. Check our interactive map, where you'll see sale posted in our calendar. You can even add your own.
3. Queen of Hearts raffle
Help two local organizations – the Farmington Rotary and the Xemplar Club – help others in our community, by taking a chance at this raffle. Buy a $1 ticket for the drawing, held today, 9 p.m., at John Cowley and Sons in Farmington. You could take home 60 percent of the pot, or a $25 gift card from the pub.
4. Look ahead: Farmington libraries closed on Friday
Staff at the Main Library and Farmington branch will be taking an in-service training all day Friday, so both buildings will be closed. You can return or reserve materials or check your account at farmlib.org, and both buildings will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
5. Look ahead: Giant Indoor Rummage Sale
Stop by the Dublin Gym at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills on Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., for a Giant Indoor Rummage Sale. Residents with treasures to sell will be lined up and waiting for you. There's no cost to attend.
