Take the umbrella with you today, and don't let the rain keep you from getting out and about in Farmington and Farmington Hills. Here's what you should know:
1. The weather
There's a 50 percent chance we'll see thunderstorms today and tonight, but the temperatures will remain mild. The National Weather Service predicts a high around 72 and a low around 54.
2. The Delta Twins at Mentobe
Nominated this year in the category of Outstanding Blues Artist/Group in the Detroit Music Awards, this duo performs free at Mentobe, starting at 7 p.m. While you're there, take a look at the photography of John Kapitan and local high school student Laura Meyer.
3. Panel discussion on gifted students
Steppingstone School is co-sponsoring a SPARClers Parent Series today at 7 p.m., at the Farmington Community Library Main Library. There will be a panel discussion on relationships between gifted students of different ages. Register by phone, 248-957-8200.
4. Look ahead: Carousel
Mercy High School's production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical opens Friday, 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 adults, $10 students and children. To learn more, call 248-476-8020 or visit mhsmi.org.
5. Look ahead: Year of the Dragon
While some may spend Saturday celebrating St. Patrick's Day, you can also celebrate Chinese culture during this event at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Enjoy Chinese music and dance performances, children's activities, food and Chinese arts and craft demonstrations. Admission is $5, parking is free.
