5 Things You Should Know Today - Nov. 3, 2011
You can sail the high seas tonight at North Farmington High School.
A classic Gilbert & Sullivan performance and the chance of a rainy day are just two of the things we think you should know about today:
1. The weather
Today will remain mostly cloudy, with a 40 percent chance of rain mostly after 11 a.m. The National Weather Service predicts a high around 47 and a low tonight around 34.
2. Need a piano?
If you're in the market for a piano, consider a visit to Wayne State University Oakland Center on Sunday. These instruments have been well cared for; they've been used by students. Learn more about the location, pianos available and hours here.
The North Farmington High orchestra and choirs have undertaken a challenging production, Gilbert & Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore, performed tonight at the school's Hunt Auditorium. Tickets are just $5. They're available at the door and include an after-glow with the cast. The curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m.
4. Letters to the editor
Just a few more days remain to submit your election letters to the editor. Please remember to include your full name and address for our records. Read the letters already submitted to see who's supporting candidates and millage questions.
5. Look ahead: Marching Band Competition
Congratulations to Harrison High and Farmington High marching bands, both of which will participate in Saturday's Michigan Competing Bands Association state finals at Ford Field in Detroit. If you're interested in driving down to support the local competitors, Farmington performs at noon and Harrison at 1:45 p.m.
