After Strong Start, Farmington Cheerleaders Finish Fourth in OAA White Competition

The West Bloomfield Lakers took top honors in the event held Wednesday on their home turf.

Although the temperature outside hovered at 18 degrees Wednesday night, it didn't stop the heated cheer competition inside the West Bloomfield High School auditorium.

Varsity competition cheer teams from Clarkston, Farmington, Hazel Park, Royal Oak and West Bloomfield participated in the Oakland Athletic Association White Division League Cheer Competition to gain points in league standings.

After the first round, judges scoring showed West Bloomfield in the lead with a point total of 209.1, Farmington in second at 204.9, Clarkston with 201.1, Hazel Park scoring 198.5 and Royal Oak with 173.9. The second round of competition didn't see any movement on the leader board as each team maintained their position earned in round one.

The Farmington Squad struggled a bit during round three, while Clarkston and Hazel Park turned in very solid efforts to climb their way up the leader board. The West Bloomfield Lakers capped a night of stellar performances earning the highest point total again in round three and taking first place on the night.

The final point results were as follows:
1st West Bloomfield - 677.68 Points

2nd Clarkston - 652.92 Points

3rd Haxel Park - 627.36 Points

4th Farmington - 622.84 Points

5th Royal Oak - 546.84 Points

Current league standings have Royal Oak with 2 points, Farmington with 4, Hazel Park with 6 points and Clarkston and West Bloomfield tied at 9 each.
