Armed Robber Hits Farmington Radio Shack
No one was injured in the Wednesday night incident, a Farmington Public Safety commander said.
No one was injured, but a number of cell phones were taken during an armed robbery Wednesday at Radio Shack on Grand River in Farmington.
According to a Farmington Public Safety Dept. release, a lone gunman entered the business at around 8:20 p.m. and ordered the two employees to stay in the back of the store. The suspect then took cell phones from the stock room.
An employee coming from the back room saw the suspect enter the front passenger seat of a newer, dark blue or black “shiny metallic” vehicle, possibly a Honda, which was parked in front of the business. The vehicle headed east on Grand River after the robbery.
The press release included a description of the suspect as "a light-skinned African-American male, 5’9” to 6’2”, approximately 150 lbs. and approximately 28 years old". The suspect was unshaven and wearing dark pants, a powder blue shirt with white vertical stripes, light tinted eyeglasses and black gloves with holes over the knuckles. The suspect’s hair was described as a "short afro-style".
“We are grateful that no employees were injured during this incident, which is the department’s first armed robbery in 14 months," Farmington Public Safety Commander Frank Demers said.
Investigators are working with area departments to develop suspect information in this case. Anyone with information may call Detective Andrew Morche at 248-474-5500, ext. 2240.
