Farmington area Facebook users did a lot of "liking" and "sharing" last weekend, and on Friday, it all paid off.

The City of Farmington Hills after school program benefitted from Bright House Networks 12 Days of Giving, which offered donations equal to the number of times certain photos were shared on the social media site. On Friday, Bright House and Busch's Fresh Food Market teamed up to deliver more than 3,700 canned and boxed food items that were, in turn, distributed to several local organizations.

A Bright House truck brought food first to Farmington Public Schools Visions Unlimited, where students with developmental disabilities pack backpacks for a Farmington-Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families program that provides food to children and their families during the school year.

Neighborhood House, which supports families in need with a food shelf and other services, and Servant Church of St. Alexander food shelf also received a portion of the donated goods.
