What's Open, Closed for Christmas?
Farmington and Farmington Hills government offices and both library branches are closed Dec. 24 and 25. Movie theaters, some restaurants and other businesses will be open, most with limited hours, both days.

You can still mail a package on Christmas Eve, but if you've got business to do at Farmington or Farmington Hills city hall, it will have to wait.
All local government offices, including city halls and the 47th District Court building, will be closed both Dec. 24 and 25.
Both the Farmington Community Library Main Library and the Farmington branch will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. You can renew and reserve books online at farmlib.org.
The United States Post Office branches in downtown Farmington and on 12 Mile Road in Farmington Hills will be open until noon on Dec. 24, then close through the holiday. Mail will be delivered on Dec. 24. Both buildings have Automated Postal Centers that allow customers to purchase postage, weigh and mail letters and packages.
There will be no trash collection in Farmington and Farmington Hills on Dec. 25. Routes will be moved one day through the week.
What's open?
If you're looking for entertainment, a carton of milk or a place to take the family for dinner on Christmas Day, there are options in Farmington and Farmington Hills:
- Empire Dynasty - This Chinese restaurant that specializes in Chinese Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine will be open from 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
- House of Ing : Specializing in Chinese cuisine, with organic and vegetarian options, this restaurant will be open from noon to 11 p.m.
- Ram's Horn: The Farmington restaurant, 32435 Grand River, is open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. The Farmington Hills restaurant at 30005 Orchard Lake Rd. is open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Dunkin Donuts - Offering sweet treats and yummy coffee, the restaurant will be open 24 hours on Christmas Day.
- CVS and Walgreens - CVS stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: 22250 Middlebelt Rd., Farmington Hills; 23391 Farmington Rd., Farmington; 27660 Middlebelt Rd., Farmington Hills; 37700 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills; and 29425 Orchard Lake Rd, Farmington Hills. Both Walgreens stores, 24140 Orchard Lake Rd. and 27750 Grand River Ave., will be open from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- 7-Eleven stores: These convenience stores stock a selection of sundries and basic grocery items, as well as baked goods and snacks. Three Farmington Hills locations will be open through the holiday: 22069 Farmington Rd., 22323 Middlebelt Rd. and 29318 Orchard Lake Rd.
- West River Centre Theater - Showtimes for 10 first-run movies on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day start at 10:40 a.m. For a complete list, visit their website.
- Farmington Civic Theater - The theater is closed Christmas Eve. Showtimes on Christmas Day start at 4:50 p.m. with Here Comes the Boom, followed by Taken 2 at 5:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. and Argo at 7 p.m. For more information, visit thefct.com.
