Cipriano Evidentiary Hearing Moved to December

Facing felony charges connected to the murder of his father and attacks on his mother and brother, Tucker Cipriano will be back in court Dec. 19.

An Oct. 31 evidentiary hearing in the case against Tucker Cipriano, who is accused in a deadly attack on his family, has been moved to December.

Cipriano was last in court Sept. 25, when Sixth Circuit Court Judge Shalinda Kumar ruled he is competent to stand trial. At the time, his attorney Mitchell Ribitwer said a determination on whether Cipriano was sane at the time of the attack would take another month.

Kumar ruled on Sept. 26 that Tucker Cipriano and Mitchell Young would have a joint trial, with separate juries, on felony charges related to the April 16 death of Robert Cipriano, Tucker's father, and severe injuries to , and brother, Salvatore.

During the postponed hearing, Ribitwer was expected to argue to suppress statements Tucker Cipriano made to Farmington Hills police. According to information posted at oakgov.com, evidentiary hearings are now scheduled Dec. 19, 1:30 p.m., and Dec. 20 and 21, 8:30 a.m.

During the Sept. 26 hearing, Kumar refused to toss statements Young made to police while he was in the hospital just hours after the attacks. He is next scheduled to be in court for a pre-trial Dec. 11, 1:30 p.m.
