Detroit Tigers Clinch AL Pennant, Advance to World Series
The Tigers last played in the World Series in 2006 and took the title in 1984.

The Detroit Tigers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 2006, seeking their first championship since 1984.
The Tigers swept the New York Yankees on Thursday in a 8-1 Game 4 win in the teams' best-of-seven American League Championship Series to advance to the World Series. Game 4 originally was scheduled for Wednesday night, but threats of inclement weather postponed the start time until 4:07 p.m. Thursday.
The World Series begins Oct. 24 in a best-of-seven series against the winner of the National League Championship Series, currently under way between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. The National League team will have home-field advantage in the series because the American League lost the 2012 MLB All-Star Game.
Games 3, 4 and 5 will be at Comerica Park in Detroit, while Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 will be on the road.
Fox will nationally televise each game of the World Series. Local viewers can tune in via WJBK-TV, Fox 2 Detroit.
Tickets for the World Series games in Detroit went on sale Wednesday.
The World Series berth is manager Jim Leyland's second with the Tigers since leading the team to the Fall Classic in his first season with the team in 2006. The team advanced last year to the American League Championship Series, but lost to the Texas Rangers in six games.
The Tigers, who rallied late in the season to clinch the American League Central Division title and an automatic playoff berth, defeated the Oakland Athletics in five games in a best-of-five American League Division Series.

Coke....
Delmon is a very, very close second. But for Coke to come in and close like he did to send the Yankees packing, very, very impressive.
3rd MVP is split up between JV, Max, Fister and Sanchez. What dominating performances by our starting 4 horsemen.
If you would've said before the series started the Tigers would sweep NY, only give up 6 runs in 4 games and win the last game lopsided at 8-1, I would've told you to puff less, pass more.

Mike, I think some people already have started. Last night while I was traveling on I-696, I saw plenty of fireworks from Ferndale to St. Clair Shores.
