ESD Honors North Farmington High Student
Makayla McCoskey receives the Outstanding High School Student of the Year award.
Dozens of applicants and many shining stars made the process of selecting this year’s recipient of The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) Outstanding High School Student of the Year quite challenging.
The 2011 Outstanding High School Student of the Year Award was given to Makayla McCoskey, a student at North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills. In addition to maintaining a 4.0 GPA every trimester in high school and earning a perfect score of 36 on the ACT Exam, she was active in numerous school activities including theater, choir, student government and more.
McCoskey’s academic honors and awards include being a United States Presidential Scholar Nominee, a National Merit Finalist, and the recipient of the University of Michigan Regents Merit Scholarship.
She will be attending U-M in the fall, where she plans to pursue studies in Cell and Molecular Biology and Biomedical Engineering.
McCoskey received her award during ESD’s Annual Awards Dinner held June 23 at the Book Cadillac in Detroit.
