Backdoor Friends Cat Rescue is fundraising with ShoeBox Recycling. Bring in unwanted shoes, which will go to people in need, while the rescue is paid for every pound. See the event listing for the types of shoes that are accepted.
The Detroit Metropolitan Flute Choir, consisting of 20 area flutists, opens the church's 2013 Performing Arts series. No tickets will be sold; a donation of $10 per person or $25 per family is requested. For more information, call 248-474-6170, ext. 208.
