Farmington City Council Meets Monday with T.J. Maxx Strip Center Owners
Officials will meet during a 6 p.m. study session with developers who play an integral role in the Grove Street streetscape project.

Farmington city council members will meet at city hall Monday with representatives from Manifold Ventures, new owners of a downtown Farmington strip center, anchored by T.J. Maxx, that is expected to be renovated in conjunction with the Grove Street streetscape project.
Officials will meet with the representatives during a 6 p.m. study session, before holding a public hearing and considering approval of the $600,000 special assessment to which the company has agreed.
The regular meeting agenda also includes:
- Consideration of a zoning ordinance amendment that would allow keeping of horses within city limits (adoption)
- Consideration of an ordinance to amend the definition of livestock in the city code (introduction)
- Consideration of a state grant for information technology services with the City of Farmington Hills
- Consideration to advance funds to the Farmington Downtown Development Authority for purchase of The Orchard condominium property at Slocum and Farmington Road
Time is also allowed for public comment on agenda items and on any topic. Full agenda packets for both meetings are attached to this post.

Scratching my head here! Council has prohibited the keeping of a couple chickens but is considering the raising of horses? (head shake)

Proposed horse-keeping applies only to the handful of lots in the city that are 2+ acres in size. Many cities in the region (Livonia, particularly) permit this. I suspect the difference is that chickens were to be allowed almost anywhere, for better or worse, generating concern about neighbors, setbacks, lot sizes, and enforcement.
It would be nice if the Zoning Board could grant exceptions to allow animals in certain cases, but currently they don't have that authority.

Well, good luck to you Patrick! Personally, I find the prohibition of a limited number of chickens silly. If you have two acres and want a few horses, you should be allowed to do so.
Trade in your Canon and come to the dark side! Nikon's glass is better. :)
