Farmington Hills Building Inspector Presides Over County Building Officials Association
Jeff Wren was sworn in during the group's Dec. 13 annual meeting.
City of Farmington Hills Building Inspector Jeff Wren was sworn in as the new President of the Oakland County Building Officials Association (OCBOA) during the group’s Dec. 13 annual meeting.
The OCBOA is made up of Building Officials and Building Inspectors from communities throughout Oakland County whose main focus is on damage assessment.
When a disaster occurs and a community calls the Oakland County Office of Homeland Security, FEMA requires that an initial assessment be made within 72 hours of the disaster to determine if the affected structures are safe to enter. Similar to local Fire Departments, the OCBOA works with communities in the area through an interlocal mutual aid agreement.
The OCBOA meets monthly to hear a speaker or instructor. This past October, 30 different communities teamed with the State Police and the Oakland County Office of Homeland Security for a hands-on training scenario at the CREST Center in Auburn Hills.
