UPDATED: Farmington Hills Police Shut Down a Local Teen's 'Project M' House Party

A Twitter post announcing a party at a home on Briarwyke goes viral, WDIV reports.

"Farmington Hills" started trending on Twitter today, after a local teen's post about a house party went viral.

WDIV-TV reported this morning that Farmington Hills Police sent 10 squad cars to a home on Briarwyke as people began trying to get inside at around 9 a.m. The party was apparently inspired by the movie Project X, a comedy-drama about three friends who plan a house party that spins out of control.

The news report indicated the house is in foreclosure, and the teens "knew they had access" to it.

The invitation was posted by Twitter user @Its_rnikey, who identifies himself on the site as Mikey Vasovski. In addition, a notice about it ended up in the Detroit-area events section of the classified website Craigslist. The post was offline Friday afternoon.

Later on Friday, WXYZ-TV reported Vasovski received the offer of a summer internship as a result of the incident.

@Its_rnikey's Twitter stream was filled Friday morning with words of praise from admirers from around the metro area, and his list of followers climbed to more than 6,800.

"When every gymnastics team at states knows about #projectM @its_rnikey," Twitter user @cait_gaitley wrote.

"@Its_rnikey everybody at my school was talking about you and we live an hour away. Your a legend for atleast trying #PropsToYou" came from Twitter user @lori_lulgjuraj.

According to bloggers at Young Detroit Show, on Twitter at @YoungDetroitWebMikey talked about the party on 955 FM's Mojo in the Morning radio show this morning. He and his father, Goran Vasovski, were both interviewed by WDIV.

I cannot imagine under what circumstances the FHPD felt that the use of TEN cars was justified in order to break up a teen party. The governor wants to increase police presence? It appears that we have too much already.

Its called preparedness. From the news reports, people were trying to gain access to the house around 9am. Where I come from, that's still a burglary. If I were a cop, Id rather have enough backup with me than be there and be outnumbered. You don't know what those teens were capable of. Channel 4 cameras even video taped the officers securing the house. Im glad FH has the resources to have that many cars on the road.
