Farmington Hills Teen With Medical Marijuana Card Faces Charges

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

An 18-year-old Farmington Hills man with a medical marijuana card faces charges after police found him in possession of the drug early Sunday morning while in a vehicle with a 16-year-old girl from Redford.

According to the Farmington Hills Police report, officers spotted the vehicle parked in a hotel lot in the area of Grand River and Halsted shortly before 1 a.m. While talking with the driver, a 17-year-old from Farmington Hills, police noticed the odor of marijuana, and a search of the driver and 18-year-old passenger turned up marijuana cigarettes. The 18-year-old also had a small bag of marijuana, the report indicated.

When the 18-year-old showed his medical marijuana card, police informed him that smoking was still not allowed in a public parking lot and in the presence of a minor. He faces a charge of violating the Medical Marihuana Act, and both men face charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
