In 1973, what was Farmington Township became the City of Farmington Hills, and on July 3, residents will have a chance to celebrate the city's 40th birthday.

City manager Steve Brock said at a Saturday study session that the event held at Founders Sports Park on Eight Mile Road will include a fireworks display. The city's last fireworks show was in 2008, in honor of its 35th birthday.
