Farmington Residents Gather for Rhymthz in Riley Park

Michigan-bred The Northern Skies entertains a dance-happy crowd.

Even though Tammy Jones lives just blocks from Farmington's , she almost missed this summer's Friday night music fest.

"This is our first one all year," said Jones, 46, while sprawled on a blanket with her 12-year-old daughter Jill Jones and their 1-year-old pup Charley.

Onlookers filled the park for the weekly Rhythmz in Riley Park event. The lawn was so packed, in fact, that some people chose to set up camp behind the stage or across the street – a wise decision for people not wanting to get mowed down by enthusiastic, dancing children.

Michigan-bred The Northern Skies offered up some bluegrassy folk-rock for the crowd's enjoyment. Just three weeks remain in the summer's line-up; for a complete list of the remaining bands, visit downtownfarmington.org
