Farmington School Officials Vote to Demolish Buildings
Five schools will fall to the wrecking ball.
The Farmington Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday night to solicit bids to demolish five closed elementary schools.
The District's Executive Director of Operations Cheryl Cannon said results from a community survey indicated the majority of residents favored demolishing Wooddale, William Grace, Eagle and Flanders Elementary Schools, and Fairview Early Childhood Center. Board members discussed the demolition option at their Dec. 8 meeting.
The board also voted to maintain the ball fields and playgrounds at the closed schools while it develops a plan to maintain and right-size them.
