Fuel Spill Closes I-275 Ramp in Farmington Hills

The ramp is expected to be closed for several hours.

A 600-gallon fuel spill has closed a ramp from I-275 to I-96 in Farmington Hills this morning, according to the Detroit Free Press.

According to the article, four semi trucks crashed on the icy roads around 5 a.m. this morning, two of which were tankers carrying fuel. Officials then closed the ramp from northbound I-275 to westbound I-96.

“We have environmental hazmat companies on the scene now cleaning up,” Michigan Department of Transportation spokesman Rob Morosi told the Freep at about 8 a.m. “But 600 gallons is a lot of fuel, so we’re looking at several hours for that ramp to be closed.”

Traffic is currently backed up in the area. For a look at a live traffic map, visit Patch's Commute Page.
