Friends and family members of 52-year-old Robert "Bob" Cipriano will gather today at St. Fabian Catholic Church in Farmington Hills to remember the husband and father who was killed April 16, during a brutal attack in his home. 

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus said Hills officers will provide traffic control around the church, which is located on 12 Mile Road just west of Orchard Lake. 

Bob's wife, Rose, 51, and 17-year-old son, Salvatore, remain hospitalized with critical injuries. The Ciprianos' son Tucker, 19, and his friend Mitchell Young, 20, face felony charges in connection with the murder and assaults. 

Salvatore's twin brother, Tanner, and their 8-year-old sister Isabella escaped injury. 

In an obituary published on the McCabe Funeral Home website, Bob Cipriano is remembered as "a dedicated family man who gave his all to the people and causes that were important to him." He was born on November 30, 1959, to Salvatore and Elinore (Bregg) Cipriano, the third of six sons, and married Rosemary Trahan in Bay City on September 17, 1988. 

Bob Cipriano was an active volunteer with St. Fabian Catholic School and Detroit Catholic Central High School in Novi, where his children attended school. An athlete in his own right, he also supported youth sports, "especially those in which his children participated." 

On Monday night, colleagues at Dearborn Public Schools paid a tearful tribute to Bob Cipriano, who had served for 10 years as the district's Business Services Manager. 

Student groups at Harrison and North Farmington high schools in Farmington Hills have donated proceeds from their "charity week" events to a fund established for the Cipriano children. In a post on a blog called "ccbrotherhoodreflections", North Farmington teacher Kevin Ozar wrote that proceeds from the school's Charity Week Senior/Staff competition – almost $600 – would be donated to the family.

"It was one of our largest turnouts, no doubt in large part because the North Farmington Family wants to reach out and support the family in any way we can," he wrote.
