Bring winter clothing to the store that will be donated to the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries and the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), for distribution to people in need of a little warmth this winter.
Clear out your closet of gently worn or never worn shoes to help Backdoor Friends help cats like this one find a home. The shoes go to people who need them, and the Cat Rescue gets paid for every pound. Drop off during store hours: Monday - Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Because this is a holiday weekend, and the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market has closed for the regular season, there aren't many activities on our calendar.

So we thought we'd provide you with a handy list of charitable drives that you can support this weekend, with donations of clothing, nonperishable foods, books and toys and cash. Browse through the photos above, then click on the links below for more information:

Do you know about a charitable cause that's not on our list? Tell us in a comment, and we'll add it to the list.
