Governor Warner Mansion Porch Party Season Starts May 10
The Thursday events feature refreshments, games and more on the porch of Gov. Fred M. Warner's historic home on Grand River.
The first in series of popular summer parties will be held May 10, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., on the porch of the Governor Warner Mansion in Farmington.
Thayer Rock Funeral Home, the Farmington City Clerk’s Office, and Governor Warner Mansion volunteers are presenting the event. Turn-of-the-century entertainment will be provided by “Impulse”, a local barber shop quartet, and guests will have the opportunity to try their hand at playing popular Victorian games such as badminton, croquet, and horse shoes, or even to try rolling a large wood hoop across the Mansion lawn. Board games will also be available.
The $5 admission includes games, entertainment, dessert and beverages. Hot dogs and chips will be offered for a small charge.
Thayer Rock Funeral Home's sponsorship ensures proceeds can be used towards making some much-needed repairs to the Mansion and carriage house.
The Governor Warner Mansion is hosting additional porch parties on the second Thursday in June, July and August, 7 p.m.-9 p.m. The Mansion is also accepting donations of "rummage" items for its flea market during the Downtown Farmington Founders Festival in July.
