Greater Farmington Area Chamber Honors Members at Annual Dinner
Awards are given for commitment to charity, social and community activism and leadership.
Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner, then recognized these Chamber members:
Owner Bill Fricke picked up the Make a Difference Award, recognizing the deli's "significant commitment to the community or a charitable organization". Chamber director Mary Engelman said Farmington Deli frequently provides food for charitable events and and has donated to the Chamber as well. Other nominees were Farmington Area Jaycees, Source of Universal Love and Toshiba.
Karen Blazaitis, Mid American Studio
Blazaitis received the Community Citizen Award, which recognizes an individual seen as "the most socially responsible and community-oriented". She is an active volunteer for local organizations including Sweet Dreamzzz, Farmington Area Goodfellows and Relay for Life, in addition to the Chamber. Dave Pniewski of Farmers Insurance was also nominated.
Steve Chang, Edward Jones
Chang was honored for his extraordinary commitment to the Chamber's Ambassador Committee. Engelman said Chang doesn't just say he's going to be there, "he really commits".
Robert Bosch, LLC
Bosch's manager of government and community affairs Kimberly Lindsey-Feagin accepted the Economic Leadership Award, given to a corporation that has "made a positive contribution to the local economy by adding jobs, improving the tax base, or otherwise creating additional value to the community." Panasonic was also nominated.
Owner Karen Gara received a Certificate of Appreciation for her commitment to downtown Farmington. Gara recently expanded her business, adding a wig studio and day spa.
