Hills Police: Thieves Targeting Purses
Recent Farmington Hills thefts share a common theme.
Thieves who are apparently targeting day care centers and health clubs have Farmington Hills Police warning women to hang onto their purses.
Police chief Chuck Nebus said late Friday that four recent thefts have had a common theme. Women left their cars and within minutes, thieves broke car windows and took purses left in plain view.
Thefts were reported on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 5:10 p.m, at Prince of Peace Church day care; at KinderCare on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 5:33 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 6, 7:40 a.m.; and at the Farmington Family YMCA on Thursday, Jan. 6, 7 p.m.
To avoid giving thieves an opportunity, Nebus said, take your purse with you. Anyone who sees suspicious activity at or near day care center or health club lots should contact Farmington Hills Police, 248-871-2600.
