I believe making a concerted effort to patronize our local merchants, particularly the Downtown Farmington shops, would make the single best, most tangible difference in our community. While FH has no shortage of individual and chain dining and retail, Downtown Farmington is the heart of the community, unique in being one of the few old-style downtowns remaining in southeast Michigan. The DDA and City have done much to raise the activity and interest level and attract much-needed shopping and dining traffic, but we as consumers ultimately determine whether the downtown will thrive a la Plymouth, Northville, and Birmingham, or merely bump along with our current unacceptably high turnover. We have many outstanding shops and restaurants, but if we locals don't spend our money here, the good places we have won't survive long enough to make this a regional dining, entertainment, and shopping destination.

Hello all and Happy New Year!! I would so love to see curb side leaf pick up. Also I would love to be able to go hiking with my dog. I know there is a dog park but I was surprised that dogs weren't allowed at Heritage Park or Woodland Hills, even though they are at Shiawassee.
