Look for New Wheeled Recycling Carts in Farmington Hills Beginning July 30
Distribution will move from north to south throughout the community, over a four-week period.
The City of Farmington Hills will begin delivery of new wheeled recycling carts starting on July 30.
Carts will be delivered by Waste Management over a four-week period, starting with neighborhoods in the north part of the city and finishing by the end of August. Residents can be put the new containers to use on their next regular collection day.
Wheeled recycling carts will be delivered directly to the curbside at each residence. Carts will feature a listing of acceptable items and the phone number for the Division of Public Works. Arrows indicating the correct alignment will be stamped on each cart to facilitate pickup by a specialized single stream, “no sort” recycling truck. Carts should be placed away from cars, fire hydrants, and trees so they can be easily reached by the automated collection lift device.
Regular trash should be put in separate containers and placed on opposite sides of the driveway if possible. Recycling carts should be placed at the curbside only when full; they do not need to be put out every week.
Those who need a smaller (35-gallon) or larger (96-gallon) carts may call the DPW at 248-871-2850 to request an alternate size at no cost, until October 1.
