Looking for Christmas or Hanukkah Services?

Congregations throughout the area are celebrating holidays this weekend.

 

Christmas weekend means special holiday services for many of the nearly 50 Christian churches in Farmington and Farmington Hills, and area Jewish congregations are in the midst of celebrating Hanukkah. 

Here's a partial list of this weekend's services and events:

Christmas

Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran

  • Saturday: 5:30 p.m. service with communion, 10:30 p.m. service with communion
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. service 

Faith Covenant Church

First Baptist Church of Farmington

  • Saturday: 5 p.m. service
  • Sunday: 10:30 a.m. service

First United Methodist Church

  • Saturday: 4:30 p.m. children’s Christmas Eve Service, 10 p.m. candlelight service
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. service

Nardin Park United Methodist Church

  • Saturday: 4:30 p.m. family service, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. candlelight services, 11 p.m. communion service 
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. service

North Congregational Church

  • Saturday: 7:30 p.m. service "The Light of All People"
  • Sunday: 10:30 a.m. service 

Orchard United Methodist Church

Our Lady of Sorrows

  • Saturday: 4 p.m., 6 p.m., midnight mass 
  • Sunday: 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1 p.m. mass 

Prince of Peace Lutheran

  • Saturday: 5 p.m. family worship, 7:30 p.m. candlelight service
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. service 

Salem United Church of Christ

  • Saturday: 7 p.m. candlelight service
  • Sunday: 10:45 a.m. service

St. Fabian

  • Saturday: 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. mass (Choir concert, 9 p.m.)
  • Sunday:  9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. mass

The Crossing Church

  • Saturday: 10 a.m. service

Unity of Farmington Hills

  • Saturday: 5 p.m. candlelight service
  • Sunday: 5 p.m. service - "Jesus the Man Becomes Jesus the Christ" 

Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington

  • Saturday: 7 p.m. service

Hanukkah

Adat Shalom

Temple Israel (West Bloomfield)

  • Friday: Kabbalat Shabbat takes place at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: Shabbat Tisch takes place at 9:30 a.m., while services follow at 10:30 a.m.

The Shul Chabad-Lubavitch (West Bloomfield)

  • Friday: Shabbat services take place at 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: Shabbat services take place at 9:30 a.m., with a Kiddush following around 12 noon.
  • Sunday: A children's Hanukkah party takes place at 5 p.m. with a pizza dinner, animal show, and menorah lighting. The cost is $7 per child or $30 per family. The adult party starts at 6:30 p.m. and follows with game night. The cost is $10. For more information or to RSVP, click here.

Congregation B'nai Moshe (West Bloomfield)

  • Friday: Minyan takes places at 7 a.m.
  • Saturday: Morning service takes place at 9 a.m., while evening service starts at 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: Services take place at 9 a.m.

Temple Shir Shalom (West Bloomfield)

  • Friday: Shabbat service takes place at 5 p.m.
  • Saturday:Shabbat Tish takes place at 9 a.m., with services following at 10:30 a.m.
  • Sunday: Sharing Circle takes place at 9 a.m., with Minyon service at 10 a.m.
