North Farmington Freshmen 'Linked' to Their New School Thursday
Incoming students meet upperclassmen who will help answer their questions and keep them on track all year.
North Farmington High freshmen got a rousing welcome Thursday morning with a program designed to help support them throughout the school year.
Around 8 a.m., members of the school's Link Crew high-fived students as they poured into the school's gymnasium. Teacher Kevin Ozar, a Link Crew adviser, led a few "wake up" activities and talked to students about the importance of getting involved in activities and events.
Teacher Amy Donato, who also advises the group, said the Link Crew program pairs every incoming freshman with an older student who can help them make choices and get involved.
"The purpose is to help them be more successful," she said, "so they're not only supported by the staff, but by their peers during the school day."
