Santa arrived at Farmington Place apartments on Thursday afternoon.

More than 50 seniors who live at Farmington Place on Grand River in Farmington got a special visit from Santa during a holiday party Thursday afternoon.

Organizer Ginny Morris said local merchants, including Papa John's Pizza, Bellacino's, Salon Legato, Farmington Center Florist, Orchard Ten Food Center, Target, Kohl's and Busch's Fresh Food Market all donated food and gifts to make the afternoon special. The festivities started with Farmington city council member JoAnne McShane judging a holiday decorating contest, with one winner picked for each of the building's six floors.

"It was very difficult," McShane said. "There were some very beautiful and unique doors."

Resident Nan Solomon said the Farmington Place management hosts a Christmas party, and people gather in the summer or "whenever somebody feels like we should all get together."

"This is the most fun we've had in a long time," she said.
