Warm Weather Means Farmington Area Golf Courses Are Open

Because spring weather is unpredictable, call before heading out with your clubs.

A reader told us Sunday's warm weather had golfers out in force at Farmington Hills Golf Club on Halsted. After calling around, we've learned local courses are all opening up to take advantage of the warm weather:

Copper Creek Golf Course

Open since Sunday, Copper Creek's hours this spring are 9 a.m. until dark. When the weather improves and the season is up and running, the course will be open from 6 a.m. until dark. Learn more at coppercreekgolf.net or call 248-489-1777.

Farmington Hills Golf Course

While not officially open for the season until April 1, this city-owned course and driving range will open as the weather allows. After April 1, regular hours will be 7 a.m. until sunset. Call 248-476-5910 to find out whether the course is open and visit fhgov.com for more information.

Glen Oaks Golf Course

This Oakland County-owned course opened March 7, but hours are dependent on the unpredictable spring weather. Call the pro shop, 248-851-8356, to find out whether the course is open on a given day. Visit golfoakland.us for more information.

Glen Oaks is also taking applications for volunteers who receive the opportunity for free golf in exchange for staging carts for patrons, washing carts, cleaning, promoting hospitality with guests and the community. Volunteers are required to attend a training session and commit to a regular schedule, one day per week, from 4-8 hours.

Submit an application to Volunteer Program Supervisor Rachel Boyd at boydr@oakgov.com. Applications are available online at DestinationOakland.com (click Volunteers). To learn more, contact Boyd at 248-975-9717.
