Watch, Listen for Farmington Hills Connections in Thanksgiving Parade

Music written by Yessian Music and a Mid American Pompon performance have become staples in the annual event.

Two Farmington Hills businesses will be prominently featured in America’s Thanksgiving Parade, which steps off at 9:05 a.m. Thursday on Woodward and Mack in downtown Detroit.

Yessian Music composed a new parade theme, titled "86 Years" to celebrate the parade's long history. According to Dan Yessian, the music has "a jazzy rhythm that gives a nod to Broadway, but is squarely rooted in Detroit funk." Last year's theme was titled, "Celebrate America ... Celebrate Detroit"

Mid American Pompon All Stars continues its more than a quarter-century tradition of performing in the parade. They'll go through their routine up to 40 times along the parade route.

Established in 1979 by Karen Blazaitis, Mid American Pompon is based out of Mid American Studio in Farmington Hills, which offers instruction in fitness, dance and pom for children and adults. For more information, visit pompon.com
