Gravity Movie Poster

As a hard-core sci-fi fan and enthusiastic supporter of the space program since Alan Shepard liftedRead More off, I agree with Mr. Hartman's points about seeing Gravity in the theatre (I would add that 3-D is a MUST), the "realism" of its portrayal of space, and the artistry of the special effects and cinematography. In fairness to potential viewers, however, I think something needs to be said about the aspects I (and apparently Mr. Hartman to some degree) found to be disappointing: often banal dialogue, long stretches where literally nothing happens and one is left simply staring at Sandra Bullock, and the stunning lack of intelligence of the character she portrays. At least three times I whispered to my wife, "She's going to do X", where X was something so stupid and predictable that no contemporary writer would possibly put that in a screenplay. Only they did. I could not suspend disbelief sufficiently to accept that anyone so highly trained as are the astronauts (whether civilian or former military) would so completely forget or ignore that training as often as she did. It's a shame the producers/director/writers didn't complement the incredible visual experience with the writing it deserved. It's also a shame that the critics have done the viewing public such a disservice in their lavish bandwagon praise. I am glad I saw the movie in the theatre for the reasons stated above, but I certainly will not go to see it again in the theatre as I have so many other blockbusters, and I likely will not revisit it on DVD, Netflix, or the various movie channels when it comes out.

Michael - I agree. I don't think I would revisit it after it leaves theaters either. You justRead More won't get the impact you want if you watch it in the living room.

Arnold looked a little rusty in this movie. Here is my review as seen on patch sites across theRead More country. http://rosemont.patch.com/articles/the-expendables-2-is-loud-dumb-action-filled-fun-fa5a6946#video-11050989
