Have you ever wondered about the night sky? Discover the basics of astronomy and how to get started observing the stars from your own backyard. Local astronomer Steve Hassell will share tools of the trade, explain the features of the night sky, demonstrate how to use a telescope, and much more! Participants will receive resources and take-home guides.
The workshop is designed for adults and all materials will be provided. Snacks and refreshments will also be served. Part of the program may be outdoors if skies are clear, so dress for the weather.

The 2,323-square-foot Nature Discovery Center houses a variety of exhibits showcasing the flora and fauna common to Heritage Park and the Farmington Hills area. A large diorama provides an up-close look at local trees, plants and wildlife. Educational aspects of the center include hands-on displays, an interactive weather station, computer microscope and a nature library.
