Free Caregiver Training Offered in Farmington Hills

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) and the Alzheimer’s Association - Greater Michigan Chapter offers Creating Confident Caregivers (CCC) training programs for families caring for a loved one with a dementia related illness, such as Alzheimer’s disease, a closed head injury, or dementia due to stroke. The CCC program has been proven to reduce caregiver stress by empowering caregivers with useful tools and information. 

Caregivers are encouraged to attend all six classes in order to complete the training. Onsite respite care is also be available to participants free of charge. All materials, flyers, and training books are provided by the AAA 1-B, and there is no cost for the caregiver to attend this training.  The class is limited to 12 participants. Up to three members from one family can attend a training together.   

To register for the CCC training program, as well as on-site respite care, call the Area Agency on Aging 1-B at 800-852-7795, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Costick Activities Center provides a home for the City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Division, Recreation Division, Senior Adults Division and Youth & Family Services Program offices, as well as activities hosted by all those programs. The Center hums with activity daily, from swimming lessons in the pool and after-school programs, to activities for senior adults and meetings or events held in comfortable, well-appointed rental rooms. The City Gallery, in the Costick Center lobby, features artworks by local residents.
