The Holocaust Memorial Center is hosting extremist group expert Dr. Jack Kay for a discussion on “Hate Speech in Cyberspace,” Aug. 15.
 
Beginning at 7 p.m., and co-sponsored by Eastern Michigan University, Kay will explain how the Internet has created a dramatic increase in terms of visibility and intensity of these acts. The event is free to the general public.
 
Kay is Professor of Communication, Media and Theater Arts at Eastern Michigan University, who has authored number books and articles on communication, rhetoric and argumentation. He has presented testimony on extremist groups to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission and frequently lectures on Hate in Cyberspace, the Internet and Anti-Semitism, and Hate Music to community groups and college audiences throughout the country.

Holocaust Memorial Center is the first freestanding Holocaust museum in America. For over 25 years, the Holocaust Memorial Center has been teaching and enlightening young and old, with an array of historic pieces from the era. The center is open to anyone, free of cost. The museum does accept donations, being a non-profit organization. It is open for tours and school field trips. The Holocaust Memorial Center is located in Farmington Hills.
