January is National Mentoring Month, and it is a great time of year to highlight mentoring as a valuable volunteer opportunity that allows an individual to make a significant impact in a child’s life. The JFS Make a Difference in the New Year . . .Mentor a Youth event will help community members to learn all about mentoring as a great way to volunteer their time while having a large impact in a child’s life.
Current mentors will be at this event to share their experiences in the program and describe the impact their mentoring relationship has had on their mentee.

Jewish Family Services, or JFS, serves the Metropolitan Detroit area. It offers a wide array of services to the community. These include access to food, shelter, adoption, counseling and addiction recovery. JFS also assists with domestic violence victims, issues in housing, citizenship and car donations. The Executive Director is Norman Keane.
