3 Ways to Keep the Farmington Vision Plan Alive

Communication and collaboration will be key, economic and community development director Kevin Christiansen says.

What must happen for the City of Farmington's Vision Plan, adopted Monday by city officials, to become more than just a stack of papers on a shelf?

Economic and community development director Kevin Christiansen said these future actions will be critical to the plan's success:

1. Implementation. The citizens of Farmington are responsible for making the vision a reality over the next 10 to 15 years, Christiansen said. Officials directed city staff to develop a work plan based on the recommendations.

2. Communication. The vision plan must be communicated to the business community and homeowners, Christiansen said.

3. Collaboration. The city is already working with Farmington Public Schools on ideas for redevelopment of the Maxfield Training Center, Christiansen said, and has incentives and other economic development tools that can be helpful in working with private property owners.

A detailed version of the Vision Plan is posted on the city's website, ci.farmington.mi.us
