The Christmas music has started playing, the gift catalogs are arriving, and Farmington area residents have three upcoming ways to get into the holiday spirit:

1. Farmington Area Goodfellows Holiday Drive

The 2013 Holiday Assistance Program is in need of canned or boxed foods, new toys and new books. Collection boxes will be located at Farmington and Farmington Hills city halls, the Costick Center in Farmington Hills and Farmington Community Library Farmington branch, from Nov. 25 through Dec. 20.

Anyone who wishes to help with Delivery Day on Dec. 21 should call 248-473-1360, starting Dec. 2, or visit farmingtonareagoodfellows.org.

2. Santa Visits Farmington Hills Dec. 3

The annual Holiday Lights ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. near the fountain area on the Farmington Hills City Hall campus. After the lights come on, refreshments will be served inside Fire Headquarters, where Santa will arrive. For more information, call 248-473-1800.

3. Holly Days in Downtown Farmington Dec. 7

The Greens & Gifts Market in the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and the Old Town Hall-iday Market at the Masonic Lodge, a visit from Santa, free holiday movies and stories with Mrs. Claus are just the start of the fun during this day-long event. Santa will also visit the Farmington Area Jaycees Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony, held at the Governor Warner Mansion at 5:30 p.m. Learn more at downtownfarmington.org
