Halloween Tips from Farmington Hills Emergency Preparedness Commission

The group provides a monthly tip read during Monday night's city council meeting.

The Farmington Hills Emergency Preparedness Commission "Tip of the Month", shared at Monday's city council meeting, offers the following advice for parents who will be sending their children out to trick-or-treat on Halloween:

  1. If you buy or rent your costumes, please look for the “flame-resistant” label. The costume will resist catching fire and can be more easily extinguished.
  2. Try to avoid large flowing costumes made of lightweight cloth.
  3. Consider using make-up instead of a mask, as masks can obscure your vision.
  4. Indoor Halloween parties offer families an alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating.
