Learn About Drumming, Diabetes at Unitarian Universalist Church

Learn about Type 2 diabetes and drumming for your health at the Farmington Hills church.

The Unitarian Universalist Church Lifelong Learning Forum this week focuses on topics related to health.

The two programs offered Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m., at the historic Farmington Hills church are:

Type 2 Diabetes: How to Use “Farmacy” Over Pharmacy For Treatment and Prevention
  • Caroline Trapp, an adult primary care nurse practitioner who is board certified in advanced diabetes management and diabetes education, will talk about Type 2 diabetes medications, management and what can be done to halt the epidemic levels of the disease in the U.S. Attendees are encouraged to view this video before the class: http://goo.gl/njQWZq .

Drumming for Your Health
  • Studies have shown that drumming lowers both blood pressure and stress hormones. Bring a drum if you have one; drums and percussion will be provided. Presenter Steve Curtin has maintained a practice of Zen Buddhism for over 30 years and plays drums both in drum circles and with clients in his Biofeedback practice.
All classes are open to the public, and a $5 donation is suggested. Refreshments will be served at 7 p.m. Learn more at uufarmington.org/learn
