2013 Rainbow Connection Wish Child

13 year old Alyssa of Farmington Hills has been selected as the 2013 Rainbow Connection Wish Child who will represent the 501(c) 3 charity at the 14th Annual Quake-On-The-Lake July 19-21 at Pontiac Lake in  White Lake/Waterford Townships. Since 2011 Alyssa has been waging a courageous battle against leukemia. The Rainbow Connection, founded in the early 80's by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, grants wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. Net proceeds from Quake benefit the Rainbow Connection, which means Alyssa will be able to realize her dream of traveling to Disney World in Florida with her parents this fall. Since its inception, Quake-On-The-Lake hosted by the Oakland County Community Club has raised more than $100,000 for the Rainbow Connection and other charities.
